Where has my list of VAT registration applications gone?

Where has my list of VAT registration...

Didn't find your answer?

When using the agent portal to register for VAT there used to be a list of all past applications on behalf of my clients.

Under there new 'improved' agent portal the list no longer seems to appear anywhere.  There is a link to register, but this seems only to be for a new registration, no information about past applications.

Does anyone know where the list has gone?  I need to check whether I've already applied for a VAT registration on behalf of a client.  The list used to be my control, but now it has gone I have no way of checking!

It gets worse...

Once you start the registration process for a client they appear on the 'in progress' list; once you complete the process, they then vanish!

I was hoping for a 'submitted' list that would update as it was processed - no such luck!

Incidently, wait till you try and register a company that has anything to do with property, you now have 3 'checklists' to fill in and attach asking in quite a detailed way exactly what you will be doing with said property.  And the $%^&* thing crashes my computer if I try and save it...

Oh, great.

I'm looking forward to my next VAT registration. Not.

Eh?

"I need to check whether I've already applied for a VAT registration on behalf of a client.  The list used to be my control, but now it has gone I have no way of checking!"

Are you saying that you have no record other than the old summary listing of VAT registration applications?  No print of the details entered on the application?  No correspondence with the client confirming that you have applied?

If your records are so poor, why not call the VAT helpline and ask them if the client is registered for VAT?

Oh! and I like the new  application procedure.  Just done one for a client, complete with the two property forms VAT 5L and VAT 1614A to opt to tax attached.  Registration confirmed within 2 weeks by message to the online communications area.  Nothing on paper or in the post.  Haven't we been asking for communication by e-mail and internet for ages?

Glad it has a happy ending, I suspected it would be the same as for my SA client who has, as I say, just vanished from the list.  I assume I will get something from HMRC, but it would have been nice to be able to see it so I know it hasn't vanished into the ether.

No, I'm not saying that, but why should I spend extra time looking through my records when there was a perfectly good list right in front of me?

I'm sure the new procedure is wonderful, but they should keep the useful bits from the old one.

List gone, but quite good.....

..... the new system acknowledges the application and also emails you the VAT number, etc. This is not bad for HMRC!!!!!

But, yes the old applications have gone!!!

However, I always print off just in case.
