2010/11 PAYE ONLINE FILING PROBLEM

2010/11 PAYE ONLINE FILING PROBLEM

Didn't find your answer?

If you try to file a nil 2010/11 P11db online using third party software it is likely to fail HMRC validity checks and submission will be rejected. HMRC have apparently known about this since at least 21 April, and the problem has still not been fixed some 3 weeks later. HMRC website states:

"We are aware that some customers are receiving the following error messages and are unable to file their P11D and P11D (b) as a result of this:-

7790 - The NIC payable value must equal 12.8% of the total benefit.

7700 - The Cash Equivalent value must equal the Cost less the Amount Made Good

Both of these errors are under urgent investigation with out IT partners and we will update this page as soon as we have more information. In the meantime please do not attempt to re-submit your P11D and P11D (b) until we have updated this page to confirm that these errors have been fixed.

HMRC apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Ongoing issues

There are no ongoing issues with this service."

What’s more, the weblink to the PAYE online services IT helpdesk no longer works (no great loss there as in my experience the IT helpdesk staff couldn’t care less about service problems anyway).

Mr Halfwit needs to be told that 12.8% of zero is zero, not a positive number.

If the problem is under urgent investigation why hasn’t it been fixed 3 weeks later?

Could it be because it is under urgent investigation ‘without’ IT partners instead of ‘with our’ IT partners?

And if the problem has not been fixed how come there are no ongoing issues with the PAYE online service?

Of course there’s a workaround, namely file on paper, or keep checking HMRC's website until the filing deadline is about to expire (since obviously we all have nothing better to do).

In the view of many (I dare say, the majority) Mr Halfwit and the others who manage this lunatic asylum should be given their P45’s forthwith. Discuss.

It's being "urgently" reviewed

So I expect a response in the late summer....

PTP worked OK last week

I used PTP's "Tax Expense" software last week to produce and later submit a P11D online.

Online filing worked OK, received HMRC acknowledgment, no error messages.

There had been a "patch" applied to the PTP software last week, after the P11D had been produced but before it was filed online.

The only problem encountered was the paper copy (for client signing) stubbonly refused to be printed duplex (double sided) - like several previous years with this PTP software.   Last year I had to print to .pdf, then printed from the .pdf to get double sided - this year I used the "normal" print dialogue box, selecting a printer, properties and double-sided, yet it still printed single sided!

Now fixed

I checked the issues page on HMRC website this morning and it has been updated to say the issues have been resolved.

I have been able to file a P11d which was previously been rejected just a few minutes ago.

Hoorah!
