8 months on - no on-line filing incentive

8 months on - no on-line filing incentive

Didn't find your answer?

I posted a few weeks ago and we got a response from Shell Makwana at HMRC press office.

I can tell HMRC press office that Shipley has failed to process £250 payments to our clients despite confirming that they received and processed the request on 6 October 2005. They say that the 10 week (so far) delay is down to their cheque processing department but they have staff on it 24/7. They can not tell us how long it will take to issue cheques.

Also we have still not received £250 on-line filing incentive letters for clients whose details were properly and correctly filed so can we assume that HMRC has lost the original submission and we must now write in with evidence if the Press Office is saying they have now processed all correct returns?

Isn't it about time some heads started rolling?

hogwash or HMRC spin
the following comments appeared in November 2005 edition of "Working Together":

"We finished processing Returns sent over the
Internet that had no errors in them at the end of September, and the taxfree incentive payments have been credited to those small employers' payment records.

However, we need to correct errors in around 100,000+ Returns. This has to be completed before the tax-free incentive payment can be credited to the employers' payment records. In some of these cases we will have to contact the submitter to get the information we need to put the Return right and, in rare cases, we may ask for the Return to be re-submitted. We hope to complete all of this by early 2006.

We started to process paper and magnetic media submissions at the end of October and we expect to have finished by mid-November."

I cannot believe there can be that number of problem returns particularly in view of Inland Revenue on-line verification procedures in force at time of submission, plus any pre-submission verification checks built into PAYE software (mandatory for approval of the software I believe)

Ditto
We have exactly the same situation! Only two cheques received for 16 requests sent in simultaneously. A further 15 who haven't even heard whether or not they can re-claim the £250.
