ACCA practising certificate renewal delays

ACCA practising certificate renewal delays

Didn't find your answer?

My practising certificate, Inv business authorisation and subscriptions were all due 1.1.08. I completed the forms online and tried to pay electronically in December, but their website was always down for payments. I tried to fax their remittance advice, but the fax number was constantly engaged. I tried several times to speak to a human between Xmas and New Year, but no lines were ever answered (presumably they were closed for 2 weeks). I eventually sent the remittance advice by recorded delivery, which they have signed for, but never taken payment from my card.

It is now nearly two months later and I have chased them several times. Apparently they have a backlog but will "get around to it soon". So I am practising without a certificate and carrying on investment business without authorisation. The ACCA guy told me not to worry, but I am trading against the ACCA rules and against the FSA rules.

Is anyone else in this position? Am I worrying unneccessarily? Is this just yet another act of incompetence from the ACCA?

I am in the same position
but it is no big deal. It is my own fault as they sent out the renewal paperwork end of October I think. I didn't complete the online renewal till late in December. I think mine should be processed in the next couple of weeks as I had an email from them saying it was being processed.
I can only assume that many people leave it till the last minute hence they need a couple of months to catch up.

Submitted ages ago
If they have a backlog, then I'm afraid it's their own fault. I first tried to submit my renewals online at the beginning of October, but their website was down and wouldn't let me login until the end of October, when I successfully completed the online submissions. Like HMRC, they never actually admitted they had a problem at the time and I wasted a lot of time trying to log in virtually every day for 2/3 weeks, attempting to meet their preferred deadline of 19 October! As it has now been four months since I submitted my renewals and they still havn't processed them, I think anyone who submitted closer to the end of December will have another month or two to wait at the least.
