CCH
Try contacting book stores. But wouldn't ACCA be able to provide help in local matters?

FL Memo

I tried it a couple of years ago after recommended on Accweb - it is quite a comprehensive book that has a lot of information (and on CD), for a reasonable price - I think it's about £82.

I would like the Tolley ones, but they are about £80 each per major tax, so I have stuck with FL Memo.

Some useful guides
I'm not sure about books for all the areas you mention - I make use of the internet (including Accounting web!) but for tax I find the best inex pensive one (we'd probably all love to be able afford a full set of Tolley's!) is Tax Answers at a Glance published by Lawpack. This deals mainly with income, CGT & corporation tax but does overlap a little into PAYE & VAT.

To be honest, on payroll I don't think you can beat the Employer's CD Rom.

Accounts - I have Frank Woods I & II but have realised
that it teaches you "How To Prepare Accounts In A Perfect World With Perfect Cients Who Have Also Read The Book" - as most books do. I think once you have learned the basic accounting principles and practice (which if you've passed ACCA you presumably have, a book won't teach you how to apply those principles - which is the skill and experience we sell.

Go to a decent bookshop with a good Business Section and browse for a while to find something that seems to speak your language.

might help
Does it help to know that you can get hold of last year's tolley's guides quite cheaply through the Amazon marketplace?

These obviously won't be bang up to date, but for general reference they are surely useful.
