Didn't find your answer?

Hey

accountants and business advisers or advisors?

What's the difference?

Why so many practices differ in the spelling?

Thanks

Hey Jacob, why the sarcasm?
It may not be earth shattering, but it is important to get the detail correct.
I believe either is acceptable, but the Institute of Taxation prefers advisers and its members are Chartered Tax Advisers.

Lucky You
It must be nice to have something as totally irrelevant as this as your one and only concern in life!

personally i am a business adviser,
being a member of the business adviser's association.

However, I believe that the business advisor is an equivalent qualification, although I have never looked at joining that body or don't know much about the qualifications required.

Good luck, whichever choice you make.

Take your pick
Both are acceptable spelling according to the Cambridge Dictionary.

Not such a minor issue?
Well, relatively.

I got confused with myself when I found that my stationery had one spelling and my logo had the other.

It is likely nobody else would have noticed though but I guess that accountants can get a bit caught up in detail ...

One and only concern?
If your one and only concern in life is to get things right, then I say go right ahead. As far as spelling is concerned, too many people have too low standards. You don't have to look very far, even on this august site of supposedly educated people, for the evidence.
