Accountant's stamp

Accountant's stamp

Didn't find your answer?

Can I just use a cheap one made up by a print company? Are they wanting something grander? I'm ATT, and authorised to give a reference.

Be VERY cautious
Providing mortgage references is extremely high risk.

The sub-prime problems right now in the States partly arose because loans were given without adequate checks.

Your professional body has a model letter but you will almost certainly want to check with your PI coverage as well to see if they will cover you if the borrower disappears and your reference is relied upon.

Certainly never reply in any terms expressing any liability. The standard ATT/ICAEW/CTA/ICAS letter covers this but it is a little "aged" so might even be deemed an unfair term if ever tested by the Courts.

out of date
That just shows how out of date Mortgage Compnies area nd how daft some of their questions are.

The one I am looking at now asks "if you feel you are able to, please provide a projected total personal income figure." and there is then a box to fill in.

No space to put the basis of the projection or any caveats or assumptions.

Oh dear...
Oh dear this one is going to show my age!

Back in the dim dark ages pre computers accountants used to have a stamp which was used to stamp 64-8 forms etc etc. Its nothing grand just an ink stamp with the practice name and address on. I havent worked anywhere thats had one for years but some of the building societies clearly think accountants have remained in the dim dark ages and still use them.

I just write in the firm details in place of the 'stamp'
