Accounting software for car dealers

Accounting software for car dealers

Didn't find your answer?

Does anyone know of any accounting programs which are tailored for second-hand (or new) car dealers businesses. In particular those which include trade-ins and also cover VAT matters. Or, are there any bookkeeping systems especially suited for the same trade. The programs could include the 'cashbook' type as well as double-entry.

We sell a used car package that handles VAT and part exchanges and provides P&L (including repairs to vehicles) + compliant VAT reporting. Also provides printed point of sale literature for the car trade and offers integrated update of stock on web site.

Motor Trade Software
I work with a company which markets AutoMate, with nearly 100 users, especially independents. It covers finance deals, VAT, qualifying cars, salesman's commission, adverts, with an accounts function.
Separate module available for servicing & parts.
Ring 01733-231700, ask for Mike Brett, and mention my name.

car dealer software query
We grappled with this problem some years ago. We set up a cheap database in MS Works to handle the car record keeping and calculate VAT. The computed VAT figure was then input manually to whatever standard accounts package was used. It worked very well and didn't cost a fortune. I guess small used car retailers are not a large enough market for a software house to produce bespoke product. email me if you are interested
