Accounting Software required

Accounting Software required

Didn't find your answer?

I am looking for some accounting software to deal with the requirements of a charity.

The charity has 23 branches (summarising paper reports from a total of 200 cashiers) reporting to four regions throughout the UK. They in turn report to the head office.

Need to obtain software to enable branches to post transactions to multiple bank accounts on to main system remotely.

In addition the system needs to enable budgets to be created at branch level for later collation at head office. The system will then need to produce varaince analysis on each branch.

Software needs to be simple as dealing with volunteer treasurers and cost effecient.

Any thoughts will be welcome.

Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions
I would recommend Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions Dynamics for Charities requiring remote access at branch level via web browser or dial up connection. This software is used by Help the Aged, UNICEF, MIND, Amnesty International, RAF Benevolent Fund, Multiple Sclerosis Society to name but a few and is available on Microsoft SQL 2000, c-tree and Pervasive .SQL platforms for between 1 - 1000 users.
Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions do offer discounts to charities. As a Microsoft Great Plains Business Solutions Partner we are happy to assist charities with discounted costs for implementation of a new accounting solution.
Information may be obtained at www.greatplains.com or www.ranmor.com

Hansa Financials
Hansa is in place at a number of well known charities, and cost can be negotiated to some degree for such organisations.
It has full budgeting capabilities, client screens can easily be 'trimmed' to show only the desired detail.
Hansa has very remarkable dial-up capabilities requiring no other third party software (therefore no other costs) with hardly any degredation in speed, even over a mobile phone.

Chart of Accounts
Just a quick thought.

Might it not be that there are many types of accounting software that could achieve what you want. However for it to be successful you would need a well designed chart of accounts that gives the ability to split down to the lower levels.

To enable simple posting from the branches. An idea might be to have accouting software (or an add-in) that enables posting from Excel spreadsheets. Many branch treasurers would be happy with completing a pre-designed excel form and emailling it in.

This might give you better prospects for control.

(I have done a job similar to the one you outline using Global 2000, Access Accounting and Sun Accounts)
