Since setting up my own practise I have developed a love hate relationship with certain tasks.
One of them relates to window envelopes. The ones that take A4 unfolded, C4, are longer and wider than A4 so that they can accommodate a number of sheets. These are my standard envelope for sending tax returns and accounts out for signature. I spend a certain amount of time messing with paper clips and offsetting the various documents a little so as to ensure the complete address remains within the window. Perhaps not a good use of chargeable time. The non window version of a C4 does not go through my printer reliably and sometimes I use the thicker pleated side envelopes which most certainly do not go through the printer.
So I had a brain wave. Use envelopes without windows and get a small printer just to print address labels such as the sprocket fed ones or A6 cut sheet ones. The latter would allow me to have them pre-printed with the firm’s logo and a return address if undelivered.
On further investigation I got stuck at the restrictions within MS Word. It does not seem to allow you to select a different printer for your envelope or label printing.
Does anyone have a good idea for getting round this?

You can, though, select the tray
Hi David
It appears that you are correct about the printer in MS Word; however you CAN specify an input tray. If you treat yopurself to a printer with a manual paper feed, (I have an HP 1200 laser which is, unfortunately, no longer made) you can pop the envelope or label in as required.
While I am on I will repeat my tip for lining-up addresses. If you put them in a text box and suppress the border (if required) you can move the whole thing around to place it in a window or align it on an envelope or label.
Dedicated printer
There are dedicated label printers available from about £50 upwards. I've used an Avery one before (some time ago) and it was an easy and cost effective solution. If I remember correctly, you selected the address in your document, pressed a hot key (or a pop up menu) and printed your label.
Did that use add in software
Neil, when you hit the hot key did it trigger some kind of add in software related to the lable printer?
Address Labels
We use A4 sized sheets. These are available with different size gummed labels. We then use a Word add-in we downloaded from the Avery website.
