Amending company accounts and CT600 from dormant to trading

Amending company accounts and CT600 from...

Didn't find your answer?

A small Ltd Co have been badly advised by HMRC.

They were trading (although very small figures, but did make profit) and didn't have a clue about all the paperwork being posted to them and rang the tax office. The response was along the lines of:

"Oh, if you don't know what you're doing, here, go on a training course. In the meantime, file a nil corporation tax return, and dormant accounts to companies house."

The mind boggles, eh?

Company Accounts and CT600 were filed as advised very soon after the ARD and the filing deadlines have not yet passed.

After this training course, the director came away very worried about having filed dormant accounts and decided to get an accountant, and wants to submit the real figures.

What are the implications of amending the CT600 and Company Accounts from Nil to showing trading figures? The director was acting on the direct advice as he understood from the tax office as he readily admits he didn't have a clue and wanted the tax office to tell him exactly what to do.

Many thanks

File
the amended return before the HMRC open an enquiry and no implications apart from potentially interest.
