I have been using Norton Internet Security - they are offering the 360 version with more bells & whistles, and online backup storage. It's been suggested to me that I change Kaspersky.

My IT people recommend Trend. I don't know enough to disagree but they took Norton off to install Trend.
Norton too slow
Norton is notorious for making machines REALLY slow. I use AVG free for AV and ZoneAlarm free for firewall. Both work fine and I have had no probs. These were recommended by a chap who was a systems manager for Misco.
Norton
I have Norton on my PC at home and have no issues with it slowing down my PC. I'd installed it before I heard all the scare stories, but I've never had any problems. Of course, it is possible that if I removed it I'd be amazed at my suddenly super-fast PC!
In the office we have Sophos, which was put on by our IT people to replace AVG. We have no issues with Sophos, and had no issues with AVG!
AVG
I have used AVG for years - free, never had a problem with it.
Always had trouble with Norton which seemed to imbed itself deeply into everything and fight with other software causing horrendous slow down and crashes.
Another one for ESET
I have found these to be really good both at home and work would recommend them every time
YOU DONT NEED TO SPEND ANY MONEY
It is well known that AVG and AVAST are both excellent and both free for home/personal use.
For malware protection Malwarebytes is ideal.
You won't need anything else.
Using Norton
I use Norton as it came with my Desk Top PC. Initially I did not have it installed but when installed I did not notice any slowing down in the processing. However from my past expereience Norton appears to use a lot of memory as I had a problem with a laptop. The Desk Top however has a 64 bit processor which can see all of the installed memory whereas the lapton had only a 32bit processor.
Regarding AVG I have a client who has the free version. However recently it detected a virus but failed to delete it automatically because the virus file was so large that it would not transfer into the virus vault. We managed to delete it manually after much effort. But it left us with an email problem in that we could not read the inboxes & outboxes of our hotmail addresses. In the end we bought a new PC base unit and restored our files from a backup copy. I suspect with the free version it has been restricted in what it does and how it protects.
I have also used the full version of AVG and there has been no problems with it.
With Norton I did not take the 360 version as I did not like the idea of storing online.
