Currently at work we are geared up to start a new project which eventually may prove to be a very successful venture and support the whole business if things go according to plan and forecasts of course.
We use Sun Accounts package as our main reporting/ accounting tool along side we have a software which acts as a memberships and sales ledger database, which (sales ledger) eventually feeds into Sun Accounts via Vision XL (hope this makes sense my wording).
Basically this membership software currently is going through implementation to accommodate our new project needs and will not be ready for another 9-12 months.

The problem is we HAVE to go live with this new venture/project in April as an interim solution a lot of our operations will be out sourced, however we want to keep control of our accounting i.e invoicing, credit control in house.
Well this is where i come in as a Project Accountant; i need an interim fix especially for our invoice generation as a manual process of about 100- 200 invoices a month and may increase during the year is way too much and boring role for any one to undertake.
I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation or have experience during their career and used or is a Sun Accounts expert to advice me if there is any cheap product out there that we could attach to our current Sun package or independent of Sun to generate automated invoices. I am not too worried about the recording of this to Sun as we can have the benefit of using vision to export transactions to Sun.
I was thinking of a Sage package for using just to generate invoices and export to Sun from Sage via Vision Xl to Sun or Access Database (which I do not have a lot of knowledge of not sure what it can do apart from storing data more securely and advanced then excel).
Any advice or links (websites that deal with interim fixes) to research would also be appreciated.
NB we are currently on Vision 5.3 and Sun 5 soon to upgrade to Vision 6 and Sun (not sure of the No but it is the latest one)

Excel/Sun Invoicing
We have developed an Excel solution for various clients that generates Excel based invoices fully integrated into Sun for both Customer details, as well as automatically uploading the invoices automatically into sun.

This solution is designed to interface into any Sun database and easily generate multiple invoice formats from Excel. It picks up all standing data in real-time from Sun (all Customer details etc.) when generating and invoice, and then uploads all completed invoices automatically into Sun. All connectivity to Sun is via Vision (currently Sun 426 and Vision 5, but it can easily be amended for Sun 5 and Vision 6).

Data Entry into SUN using VISION
Why not create your invoicing details on a Excel spreadsheet then use the mail merge facility in WORD to uplift these fields into a merge document for your invoices? (you might need to dig deep into the WORD help files to see how you format the field codes for accounting purposes in a mail merge!)

With a bit of minor manipulation in EXCEL you can then use that same dataset to set up a VISION template, but you should only have to enter your data once and no need to buy another bit of software.

Alternatively set up your invoice template in EXCEL, which writes the relevant fields to a VISION template and then copy and paste all these together to upload into SUN.
