Are there any good tax and accounting packages...

Didn't find your answer?

I can't see any posts mentioning Linux since 2009.  Is there any tax and accounting software that works on Linux and Windows? I would love to move away from Microsoft, but I cannot afford cloud accounting software, and do not really want it anyway. Anything I used would need to be usable in Windows as all my clients use Windows.

Linux and Windows

Hansaworld works across multiple platforms including Linux, Windows and Mac. Possibly other platforms too.

Linux for accounts

I run Ubuntu (Linux) and find it no problem, I'd never go back to Windows. There is a whole list of Linux accounting software here:

https://duckduckgo.com/c/Linux_accounting_software

I currently run a simple accounts based on a spreadsheet cashbook, but I am thinking of switching to GnuCash in the new year (it's in the list above). It would be interesting to compare notes with anyone who has/is using open source software for accounts.

Sorry I'm a bit late responding; just seen this after posting the above reply to another person's enquiry ( which is at https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/anyanswers/question/linux-accounting-sof... )

useless search engine

Just shows how bad the accounting web search engine is, as I posted an identical question to yours (referenced by Honest Jon), however my thread turned into a discussion as to whether Macs are overpriced.
