Armed forces employee

Didn't find your answer?

I have a client working in the armed forces as a Captain. Does anyone know of any specific tax breaks/allowances available for employees when they perform the bulk of their services on an overseas operational tour for most of the tax year, but not all of it.

My client was overseas for ten months in the tax year to 5 April 2006.

No there aren't any as they get them at source.

Military personnel already get quite a few tax free allowances - e.g. officers get a tax free clothing allowance etc..... some they get automatically, others they claim as they become entitled to them.

You will find more information here -
