Associated companies

My client is a UK company holding majority shares(75%) in another company which in turn is holding majority shares (80% each)  in two EU trading companies.

In this case am I right in saying that the number of associated companies for CT purpose is 3? Could anyone please confirm?

Many thanks for your comments

All of the companies mentioned are certainly associated.  If the holding company does not itself trade but simply acts as a repository of shares in its subsidiary, then the holding company would not be included, but the remaining three trading companies would all be associated.

That may not be the end of the matter, however.  You also have to look at any other companies that are under the control of the shareholders in the holding company, despite that for companies act purposes they are not part of the same group.

With kind regards
