Banging my head on a brick wall

Banging my head on a brick wall

Didn't find your answer?

Once again frustrated by the Tax Credit Office. They were sent the income details (or rather trading loss details) of a client to renew their claim. However they deny it and despite several telephone calls and letters closed the case on their computer meaning that it had to be applied for again.

So a new claim is being processed and the client is not receiving any income at the moment. But what about the income received previously? As no income received, the tax credit office were notified and they were entitled I had expected that this matter would remain closed. Of course not. The Tax Credit Office are now claiming thousands in returning tax credits the client was entitled to, not on the basis of actual income details but on the basis that they currnently deny they recorded it on their system as received in time.

Its way past time this department was scrapped. The whole logic that forms are more important than facts - when they lose half the forms submitted - is ridiculous. How many years is Dawn Primarolo expecting us to wait for her to sort out this mess?

Incompetence in high places
I have heard a rumour that on the first day of next month the tax credit office will merge with the child support agency.

Re merger rumour
Is this is save embarassment by having just one really incapable department rather than two do we think?

The concentration on tax credit department paperwork only (there is no link to other tax department records) has led to enormous fraud (more single parents claiming than there are single parents for example) and a severe lack of help for those who do qualify under the rules.
