Didn't find your answer?

I am looking to provide book keeping and payroll services to various clients. Can anyone recommend any software packages (and likley costs)that can be used for multiple clients?

MYOB has surprising flexibility for an accounts package of its price:

Multiple users, stock, payroll, all ledgers, reconciliation functions, masses of configurable reports downloadable to Excel and Word, card references, contact log information, time billing, marketing information, standard letters from system, emails from system.

No painful add-ons for extra ledgers. No sting for the support. All the ledgers above are live and real...no special installation required. Can be used bit by bit so preventing the conversion taking a huge investment of overtime. Mac and PC compatible. Amendable transactions.

Companies
If you are providing book-keeping services rather than final accounts then the most important question is how many companies can I have and how much will it cost ?

Sage Line 50 used to be the product of choice because you could buy a large amount of companies for very little money however the new licencing scheme has completely put paid to that!

We recommend Access Foundations for the task. Functionaly as good as Line 50 but multiple companies wont cost the earth.

I'm going to break with tradition on this site and actually give you prices...

Access Foundations Business (nominal, sales, purchase, cash book, vat, import) is £375

Unlimited company licence is £500.

Payroll is a similar figure but depends on the number of employees you intend to pay in each payroll.

You would need 2 days training at around £500 per day and annual support/licence at around £1,500 all in.

If you dont need all those companies then obviously the price would be less.

Also you get some fantastic links with Excel, and if you run XP you get all the smart tag options.

We work nationwide so if you would like more information then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Moneysoft Progs are always Current
Jay,
Moneysoft progs are always current as on-line d/loads for free will only take 5 mins max.
Celtic were a bit unlucky in Cup Final, good goal disallowed/penalty missed and Rangers despite therir win just hung on. Celtic appeared fitter throughout - and I am a Rangers man through and through. The Ref missed quite a lot including not booking Rangers Amoruso for the penalty and as he had been booked earlier should have joined Lennon in the early bath. Still we will take the cup for what it is worth.
Liverpool are just begining to believe in themselves again, I see. Thursday will change that again! LOL!

More ideas
Huw

Good suggestions so far......

Multi company files for little or no extra cost is obviously the key to your search. However, you do not say if you are providing a 'final accounts' type service as well or what detail each file is kept to.

If you are providing a 'final accounts' service I'd make sure you have an 'easy' method of producing final accounts information from your chosen software. I can see three broad routes to reporting - in the package itself, transfered to a third party package or transfered to a reporting tool (ie excel)

If the bookkeeping you are providing is without stock based management information (ie you are merely concerned with header detail) than almost any package will probably do, subject to multi file and reporting

Kind Regards

QuickBooks with integrated payroll
Huw
QuickBooks 2003 with integrated payroll. You can run as many different businesses as you like on one copy of the software.

The regular version costs around £199 with payroll (£149 without payroll). The Pro version is around £349 with payroll (£299 without). Premier is about £449. All prices quoted include VAT. Prices are approximate as those stated can be bettered by shopping around online.

The Pro version with payroll is likely to be the most relevant one. To compare what's available in each follow this URL http://www.quickbooks.co.uk/which_product.php

PS
Jay

Flogging off Sage Line 50 is nothing new, its been going on for years! If you know where you look you can get bigger than 50% discounts.

Why? Because Sage is a plc they are under significant pressure to produce good figures for half year and full year end. At these times Sage do all sorts of silly deals for their larger resellers to get them to prebuy software so they get better figures.

Some resellers therefore stock up at this time and sell off over the following months and a much lower price.
