Bookkeeping packages

Bookkeeping packages

Didn't find your answer?

A new client needs a package that would enable summary reports to be produced not just for customer statistics (such as turnover, profit) but also by job done for each (preferably without a lot of csv file analysis). Does anyone have any suggestions or know of such a package?

Have a look at Diamond Discovery Software

Diamond Discovery is business software with a difference.
Our solutions for fully-integrated management of accounts, supply chain, inventory, EPOS and customer relations grow with your business.

We specialise in helping businesses from many industries, including manufacturing, construction and distribution, trade and retail, service and public sector, to improve their financial reporting and achieve control of their business.
Because Diamond’s software is modular and easily upgraded, it is as suitable for start-up businesses as it is for larger enterprises with multi-million pound turnovers.

Job Costing is available with Diamond "Accounts Edition" and above.

Accounts Edition is designed to offer businesses a ‘virtual accounts department’. This system is an ideal option for smaller businesses looking for greater control over their financial operations.

Our current expansion program means that we are seeking new resellers and advisors.

We are able to customise our software so that an accountancy practice that recommends and supplies the software to their clients can achieve a greater level of "lock-in", meaning their clients are unlikely to go elsewhere.

If you are interested in becoming an advisor or reseller or would simply like us to provide your client with a hassle-free, no-obligation demonstration, please contact me.

QuickBooks- using 'Class' - is one way
It all depends on how many different ‘Jobs’ there are in a year, how good the client is at analysing expenses, what sort of expenses there are (i.e. do you want to allocate payroll costs to Jobs?)

We have a client who does this by using nominal codes within Sage 50 over 15 different fixed expenses centres and he is perfectly happy with the way it works just a matter of setting up a P&L report for each ‘job’ once.

Beware sales vultures selling unknown packages, make sure you see it working for real before you spend money.

Comparison of main small business packages
Rachel, a year or two ago, David Carter took a look at MYOB, Sage, TAS and QuickBooks to see how they coped with job cost/accounting. His article might help you assess the mainstream contenders.

Access Dimensions also has a useful project accounting module that can be adapted in many ways. There used to be a "Lite" edition, but I am not certain whether that would include the additional accounting/reporting facilitites.

Good luck with your quest
