Box 18.2

Box 18.2

Didn't find your answer?

When completing box 18.1 and 18.2 I always call the Revenue for the figures, but on three separate occasions I have been given incorrect information. Can anybody suggest an alternative foolproof method to ensure I am giving my clients the correct tax liability?

Good question....
Hi Lisa....I've asked clients to let me have a copy of any PAYE tax code notices that they have received for 2005/06 & also for 2006/07. That works fine when they respond!! Failing that, phoning the Revenue seems to be the only way.

SA online - view statement of account
I wonder if the coded out tax liability would be shown on the SA online system, ie. view client and view statement of account of the client - subject to, of course, HMRC's ongoing IT problems / (in) capabilities.

I have had problems with this
Three times this year I have put in a figure based on my records and/or HMRC on line onfo and HMRC have reduced it to zero when they process the return. I have raised it with them each time and they agree they were wrong to do so. I think there is a bug in their system.
