Breakfast networking meetings - Do they work?

Some time ago I joined BNI and left within 4 months of joining. The key reasons I left are rigid structure of meetings, I just felt the group was not right for me and I had to attend or find a replacement or else I would be out.

I have come across 4networking where the structure is less formal also not American which I like. It just looks like it is for normal everyday people. However, we can convey any message on a website.

I hear BNI has been good for accountants for getting clients over a period of time.

I would be grateful for response on:

• breakfast networking meetings - do they work for signing on clients?
• Views on 4networking - it is not as established as BNI. What has your experience been like?
• Anything else I should consider?
