Is a bursary taxable ?

I have a client who has a small part time business. She has started to train as a nurse (mature student) and receives a bursary of a few hundred pounds per month.

a) is this taxable

b) does it affect tax credits claim

Thanks
John

No and no

A few hundred pounds a month sounds like the non-means tested bursary. I know that this isn't taxable - my daughter is a student nurse and I checked it out for her.

It isn't classed as income for tax credits: -
