Business name - Use of "company"

Business name - Use of "company"

Didn't find your answer?

I always thought that a sole trader should not use the word "company" in its name as it implied something they were not.

I've recently meet a client (a sole trader) who has invested heavily in advertising their new business which includes the word "company" in its name. To remove the word would make the name a bit funny so does any one know of any objections to using this word?

thanks

Companies House guidance
The following link gives Companies House guidance to use of business names.

The regulations apply to unincorporated businesses as well as incorporated entities :-

http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/about/gbhtml/gbf2.shtml#six

There quite a few names which have restriction of use, but "company" is not one of them.
