Can I Transfer Excel Autocorrect entries ?

Didn't find your answer?

But, I do not know how to transfer the multitude of abbreviations I have to another machine.

Any ideas?

Don't know but ........
Peter
The autocorrect entries are shared between all MS Office applications so logically would be held in the same file.
However, can't tell you where that file is so I'm interested to know also.

Actually John...
Actually John, the answer you refer to is about Word and does not give the whole story.

The Microsoft knowledge base gives the following info:
AutoCorrect lists are now shared between Office applications. Any changes you make to the AutoCorrect entries and settings while in one program are immediately available to the other programs. In addition, Word can store AutoCorrect items consisting of formatted text and graphics.

Information pertaining to AutoCorrect is stored in various locations.

AutoCorrect entries shared by all programs:
.acl file in the location specified in the Windows registry

AutoCorrect entries used only by Word (formatted text and graphics):
Normal.dot

AutoCorrect settings (correct two initial capitals, capitalize names of days, replace text as you type):
Windows registry

AutoCorrect settings used only by Word (Correct accidental usage of CAPS LOCK key, Capitalize first letter of sentences):
Windows registry

MS Office applications share the same file for autocorrect entri
I think it will be C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeLibraryTmpltnum.xla, but I'm not 100% certain. Suggest you ensure you keep a copy of any files you overwrite...

We had a similar query last month
David Evans asked pretty much the same thing in April and Charles Verrier helped him out with the answer. Take a look at:
https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=43265&d=448

When you've got a question, it's worth using the Any Answers search facility to see if there's an answer already on the site.

Meanwhile, keep those queries coming!

I think..
I think the autocorrect settings are held in the template. Thus for Word, if you copy the normal.dot - the location of which is specified in options, you should get these settings. For Excel I'm not sure where the equivalent file hides. Sorry, anyone else know?
