I have a client that has a complex excel management reporting pack that is currently being completed by manually re-keying data from Sage Line 50. Is it possible to export through ODBC sage departmental TBs that could then be linked throughout the spreadsheet and massively improve the time taken to produce these reports. Also save time consuming audits when adjustments get made in sage but their clerk then manages to unbalance the workbook.
Any help/advice appreciated.

Exporting from Sage
Hi Ian
Yes you can link with ODBC. I use Sage line 50 and import data with a Microsoft query into a spreadsheet. I works very well.
Once you have your data in Excel you can analyse it with a pivot table, link it to other lookup tables in Excel, or write a small Visual Basic program to pick up the data and populate your existing worksheets.
First make sure your ODBC drivers are set up.
Then create a query from the "Data" option in the Excel tool bar.
NB: I copy the sage data tables from our network onto my C drive. The data retrieval is much quicker.
This should get you to the stage of having data in a spreadsheet format.
This is a very brief overview, if you need more clarifiaction, just ask.
