Tick the Box
Dont forget to tick the box on the front of the CT600 which says "is a repayment due for an earlier year?"

I have known HMRC not to deal with the loss carry back if this box is specifically not ticked, regardless of what the computation or the covering letter actually says.

not claimed on CT600
you just have to show what you wish to do with the loss in the tax computation, and then make HMRC aware of the claim when submitting the return (i usually write LOSS CARRYBACK CLAIM on the front of the comp, and highlight it as well as the relevant part of the computation).

HMRC will then amend the previous years figures based on the claim.
