Charities Act SORP Packages for Local Town Council

Charities Act SORP Packages for Local Town Council

Didn't find your answer?

I currently audit a local town council and town trust - other than configuring Sage or whatever - are there any cost effective packages that cope well with fund reporting and are specific for local authorities and charities.
The current Excel model being used isn't up to the job.

Mmm...
Local Authority accounting is governed by the 'Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting in the United Kingdom-Statement of Recommended Practice' and the 'Best Value Accounting Code of Practice', both from CIPFA. I'm not aware that there is any accounting package that conforms to these statements, 'out of the box'.

At the local authority I work for, we use a series of Excel spreadsheets that we have built to give the required info, but I can't say that they represent the state of the art. There's a lot of fag packet work, too. I suspect that our gross revenue (circa £600m) is a bit higher than you are dealing with. Our accounting system allows multi dimensional reporting, and we rely on this more than the final accounts formats.

I would have thought that any package that allows good analysis and flexible reporting will give you a good start.

Access Accounts is simply the best Charity project accounts software available in the market. We can also report diretly out of the Nominal legder in for the SORPS standard.

We are running a seminar in St Pauls cathedral in conjunction with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on July 9th, this would be a great introduction to Access Accounts, ASYST International(dealer of the year), and other Charity specifc softare designed the track funds and control purchasing.

Please do contact me on 0207 840 6056 for more information on how our Access, its project costing, and its Nominal structure work.

Dear Michael,

We (Eureka Software) produce a package that produces final accounts for not only the usual formatsbut also charities, LLP's, pension schemes. If you are interested feel free to call me on 02476 351414 or E~mail. You are welcome to look @ a demonstration system.

I cannot say the reports relate specifically to local authorities but we certainly have a lot of accountants using it to produce charity accounts.
