Charity donation

Charity donation

Didn't find your answer?

A small client with five employees all wish to make a one-off donation from their August salary of £300.00.

Can I calculate PAYE and NIC after the deduction if the £300.00 or is there no alowance for this?

Thank you in advance if you can help. I have tried calling HMRC but got sent all over the place, with the last contact advising me to call the client's accounts office (this is where I started from)

Alex

I agree with Jessica
But she has expressed it much better than I could.
Just one thing - the calculation is 100/80 with basic rate being 20% now.

I think they would
If they were a higher rate tax payer as the difference between the basic rate and the higher rate tax would be recovered via the SATR.

Thanks
Thank you.

Then if it is deducted net the employee does not gain any tax benefit. Am I right with this?

Thanks again

Net
I think the donation would be from net pay and made through gift aid to enable the charity to recover the basic rate tax.
