Onlinefx
Yep M&S are okay

Onlinefx are better, you should be able to get free delivery with this link
http://www.onlinefx.co.uk/fx/Stores/1stholidaystore/Store.asp?SID=136&DID=1

From today, rates are
M&S 2000 GBP @ 1.846 = USD 3728
Online fx 2000 GBP @ 1.8730 = USD 3746
Travelex 2000 GBP @ 1.8699 = USD 3740

Travelex will price match, but you usually have to pick it up at a bureau.

Good luck

Rates are a blend of three charges: fees, commissions, and “spread”. Most agencies make their killing in the spread. The spread is the difference between the buying price and the selling price for that currency. So-called “no-fee no-commission” services often charge unscrupulous spreads to make up the difference. A reputable currency exchange firm charges between 100 and 200 basis point spreads.

I found a company that charges as little as 30 basis points for large transactions - albiet only if you negotiate them down. They will of course be larger for smaller transactions like yours. Whatever you do, you should aim for no more than 200 basis points.

1.962
I just achieved a rate of 1.962 for £1000 of currency for a £15 fee which I thought was excellent. This was forward ordering about a month with Crowncurrencyexchange.com - I believe you can still get 1.9414 if you need them in April. Free delivery too
