CIMA member getting a job in practice

CIMA member getting a job in practice

Didn't find your answer?

Can anyone give me (a CIMA member) advice on trying to get a job in practice. Has anyone done this? Is it difficult?

My dream is to have my own practice but I feel I need a bit more experience in that environment before I branch out on my own. Should I even be contemplating taking the ACCA exams to make it easier to make the move?

Any advice welcome.

Steve

If tax is your bag...
I agree with Jim. Unless you want to do tax or audit, CIMA is just as credible as other qualifications. If you want to do tax, you might be better served doing a pure tax qualification, CIOT.

If you want to do audit, I'd recomend a good psyciatrist!

What are you after
general practice, tax, consultancy?

The reason I ask is that I have worked in practice with CIMA qualifieds whoi haved been in the coinsultancy sided rather than audit/tax. You could obtain a job in consultancy and then move.

ACCA will certaiknly give you more letters and education in different fields than CIMA because oif the different emphasis but employers may be looking at your experience as much as your qualification (depending on your age).
