Company Closure

Company Closure

Didn't find your answer?

If the company has been closed down and the money left in the company bank account, has not been withdrawn and therefore went to the Treasury.

Please can you advise as how to retrive the money back from the Tresury.

Many thanks in advance.

Not necessarily...
There will be no need to restore the company to the register in relatively trivial cases - I think £3000 is/was the limit. If the funds were below this level its much more straightforward. Discretionary payments may be made, assuming the company did not continue trading.

how much was in the account?
The procedure is to get the company restored to the register, get the money out of the bank account and then close the company (assuming it's not needed).

There will be court and legal fees to pay in getting the company restored of about £500 as well as any professional fees (or time if it's your company) so there needs to be enough in the account to make it worthwhile.

Bona vacantia
This is covered comprehensively at http://www.bonavacantia.gov.uk/default.asp?pageid=1312

I have been through the process and it takes time but this government department is very helpful
