company purchase of own shares

client company wishes to buy back 100 £1 ord shares under section 690 rather than section 641 2006 act for a consideration of £10000. Presumable the D/E is Dr share cap £100 Dr P&L £9900 Cr bank £10000. There does not then appear as under the 1985 act the need to make a transfer to a capital redemption reserve fund...is this correct ?
