Connecting a laptop to a PC

Connecting a laptop to a PC

Didn't find your answer?

Is there an easy way to connect a laptop to a PC?

I would simply like to connect via USB to grab folders to work on at home.

Can this be done?

I do not need to network in anyway.

Buy a USB Network Bridged cable
You should be able to get one for under £5

Different locations?
If your pc has a fixed IP address you can use the Remote Desktop programme hat comes as part of the windows package.

I have also used PC Anywhere from Symantec for may years to access client pcs from my premises without having to visit them, it gives you the ability to take control of the "host" pc if you need to and also makes it very easy to upload files too. http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/products/overview.jsp?pcid=pf&pvid=pca121

If the pcs are in the same location then surely just a straightforward network cable is the easiest option?

COMPUTER LINK
The best thing I either did was rather than worry about this have a link from my laptop at home straight to my desktop at work - so I can actually see my work computer as if I was at the office - no messing around. A good computer engineer would sort this easily. You would need broadband at both ends - saves loads of hassle and cuts down in software costs also! Hope this helps

Paras.
I have bought a USB Network Bridged cable as you suggested.

How do I set this up in Windows XP?
