Conversion of CSM Taxman to Sage Taxation

Conversion of CSM Taxman to Sage Taxation

Didn't find your answer?

We are converting to Sage Taxation. We have not been able to convert CSM Business Tax successfully despite the program telling us the opposite.

We are having to send the data to Sage for them to convert. I'm just wondering how many others have experienced the same problem. We know of some others and the rumour mill suggests it is a common problem and in each case it appears to be the Business Tax failing to convert rather than any problem with Personal Tax.

Sgae have kept giving us different stories and fixes etc. We know we have all the right verisons of the software both Taxman and Sage. We also know there is a real problem as Sage programmers are working on it now.

If anyone has any experiences of this I would love to know or indeed if the conversion worked perfectly.

There are other options available to you...
Have you reviewed the other options in the marketplace? FDS Taxpoint is used by two of the 'Big Five' firms and a significant number of the rest of the top 50. We even have a data conversion program. We don't spend a lot of time promoting our 'brand' - we spend the money on trying to provide an efficient service to our customers. For a no-pressure demonstration and a discussion about whether our software can match your needs, email me or call our sales dept. 01483 775 004

Conversion Problems
Having already had problems converting from Minuteman for Windows to Sage Time and Fees (a problem eventually located to a conflict with a printer driver for an HP1100) I sent my tax info to Sage for conversion. Before I could do this I had to buy a zip drive as Sage would not accept the data on the HP Colorado tape that was purchased to send data to CSM. I made the decision not to proceed with loading the converted data until after I had actually seen the software at a training course booked for next week. Sage contacted me on Friday informing me that the course had been cancelled and the next courses would not be until June. Not only have Sage taken away my working software they have provided me with a replacement that I have not seen and they now expect me to march ahead on my own or wait until June to be trained. Meanwhile the quill pens have been sharpened in the tax department in an attempt to ensure we do not fall too far behind as January will soon be here!

Please assure me that I am not going insane as I feel I must be to accept software that I did not see, order or require training for (for which I must pay). Sorry, I must go there is a bloke at the door who says he wants my car and he will swap me his and will bring it for me to see in a few days. It sounds like a bargain so I must find the keys of the Jag for him as he is in a rush.

Yes - we had problems too!
The same thing happened to us, and after sending our data to Sage for them to convert for us, it came back with all manner of strange error messages. Trying to get this sorted out by phone was also a nightmare as the staff there were not replying to faxes, phone calls or e-mails. This went on for a few very frustrating weeks and finally I gained contact with them by e-mailing the accountants club to let them know about the appalling service we were getting from the so-called Helpline in Manchester - the call was returned from Manchester within 15 minutes.
I suggested that that the only way to resolve the problem was for a technician to pay us an on-site visit. He could sort the problems there and then, and the problem would not be dragging on for another few weeks.
I was then told that we could not have a technician for at least another fortnight as they were all booked out (surprise!)
Finally the problem was sorted out (after only a month - and what's all the fuss about anyway? It's not as though time is money or anything!!)when they told us we had the wrong version of the software. Bear in mind that this was a brand new piece of software sent to us only weeks before, and it had taken them a month to realise that they'd sent the wrong one.

In short, I would book your Sage Technician now.
