Copying pages

Didn't find your answer?

Last year, we created a spreadsheet tp keep track of various data for our clients, consisting of a workbook for each client containing the sheets:

  1. Permanent
  2. (2008)

with the intention to copy (2008) forward for each new year.  (2008) draws on data from Permanent.

Unfortunately, we need to include various other entries on (2009), which we have added to the master.

Is there a simple way to copy (2009) from the master into each workbook with the links updating to draw from Permanent within the workbook rather than from the master.

i.e. simply copying the (2009) worksheet into the client means the links are "[Master.xls]Permanent!A1" whereas they should be "[Client.xls]Permanent!A1" or "Permanent!A1"

Thanks,

V.

edit links

As long as the sheet names and formulae are the same in both master and client specific file, you could use edit links after pasting and change the source to the file you are using. Or you could use Find and Replace to replace the File reference path with nothing. In both cases you will need sheet protection off.
