Corporate Intranet Benchmarking

Corporate Intranet Benchmarking

Didn't find your answer?

Is anyone willing to share their experiences of developing a corporate Intranet. I am currently part of a team reviewing our Intranet that has been operational for a year. We would like to share our experiences with other companies. We are trying to put together a development plan as to how our Intranet could be developed to gain further business benefit.

Corporate intranet benchmarking
David's response about trusting an intranet is spot on. I would add that it is not just about currency and accuracy but ensuring that the content is supporting business decisions. Even over a period of a year businesses can change direction, and all too often the intranet content does not change to support the new direction. Another issue is whether it would be better to adapt your existing intranet, or create a new one (with a new name), especially if staff have some reservations about the current intranet. Finally don't copy ideas from other intranets without fully understanding WHY they work . An intranet should match the organisation culture, and what works in Company B can be a disaster in Company A just because of differences in business/operational/management cultures.
