CPD provider recommendations?

Which CPD providers would you recommend for a small start up sole practicioner?

I have a mix of personal and corporate clients. I want to be up to date with developments mainly in small company accounts, audit and tax.

If you are an AAT member - they do some super CPD events incl several free ones which are well worth looking at.

A lot of the CPD is quite expensive. I have found Mercia, SWAT and CCH very good.

I'd second Smart - I used to use Mercia but found them a little too biased towards larger accountancy practices - I moved to Smart a few years ago and found them a lot more down to earth and aimed at the smaller practice.

Also, membership of the ICPA comes with freebie CPD, inclduing online lectures, which goes a long way towards their membership fee especially since it also includes PI insurance!

Thanks guys for your recommendations, I shall check out each one and see which one suits me best. Obviously price is an issue for a startup like me.

If you are an ICAEW member they do local courses which are really good and normally cheap.  Search on the website.
