Crystal Parameter problem

Crystal Parameter problem

Didn't find your answer?

The parameter options within Crystal are populated at the time the report is designed rather than reflecting live values from the database. Furthermore, in Crystal, the values presented in one parameter pick list (e.g., products) can't reflect the choices the user made in an earlier parameter (e.g., product types).
I've heard that there are Third Party Add-Ins that can handle this - does anyone have any feedback they can give me? I'm using Crystal Reports 9 with Crystal Enterprise 10.

Edit the parameter field
You can certainly do this Crystal 8.5, so I would imagine it will be available in CR9.

Edit your parameter field and choose "set default values". This pops a wizards which will alow you to either manually create a pick list, import a pick list or set a database table and field as a basis for your pick list.

I would also suggest you register at www.tek-tips.com

They have several dedicated Crystal Reports forums and will get you much better answers than here (no disrespect intended!).

Alternatively, buy yourself a copy of Crystal Reports 9: The Complete Reference (Complete Reference S.) by George Peck, published by Osborne McGraw-Hill, costs about GBP25.00 on Amazon. Very useful reference book.
