Try Smart Address
Smart Address from Oakley Data Services served one of my companies well. It's much more than the address book the name suggests.
It's shareware too, and v. cheap registered (about £50 I think).
Look at ACT
I would also recommend ACT as in addition to integration with MS Outlook it also integrates well with WinFax Pro. Both Act and Winfax Pro are made by Symantec
Commence 2000 is rather good and was 'free' (for single user) with the October edition of PC Plus.
Maximizer Problems
Like Sara Jaconelli, I am interested to know problems you have with Maximizer. My main gripe is that I do not seem to be able to include user defined fields for a company in a mail merge letter to a contact of that company. Has anyone else experienced this? The other problem mentioned elsewhere is the duplication of database information with our tax/accounts/time keeping software. I understand that this can be overcome using ODBC(?).
ACT! for speed then move up
Here at AccountingWEB we use ACT! for day-to-day contact management and for our telesales operation. However, we're currently looking for a more advanced Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution as we are rapidly needing more integration with web databases etc that ACT! can deal with. But if you want something to get you going, then the new version of ACT!, called ACT! 2000 at less than £150 is the way to go.
Also I know that Goldmine have just merged with the company that make the helpdesk product called HEAT, so their new integrated solution should be worth looking at. They are running a demo on the morning of Tues 28-Sep. If anyone wants to go contact Barbara Field on [email protected] or 01793 428220.
