Death and Taxes

Death and Taxes

Didn't find your answer?

I live in Italy where I own a property, and have done so for five years, not returning to UK for anything other than holidays - less than 90 days p.a. - I have no UK property, although I do have a UK Bank Account.

On my demise am I going be subject to Italian IHT? My will is registered here?

My wife didn’t declare her UK departure - she has no income. She is the sole beneficiary.

On the death of a UK national overseas, does the State in which death occurred have an obligation to inform the State of origin that one of their member is no more??

Thanks in Advance

similar query
forgive me piggy backing with similar query - couple left UK to permanently settle in Italy 40 years ago which is I assume now their domicile of choice.

They occasionally visit UK where thay stay in flat they gave to their daughter about 6 years ago.

They have no other assets in or income arising in the Uk. Is there any downside to their paying the UK council tax and being named on the council tax bill relating to the property gifted?
