When dentists incorporate can they sell their goodwill to the company? If so is there any industry standard for valuing the goodwill of a dentist's practice? Or would HMRC treat the goodwill as inseparable from and personal to the dentists and therefore incapable of being sold to the company? Is the answer any different whether the dental practice is a partnership or sole trader?

My dentist.....
.........sold his practice, having built up a portfolio of patients, which the new one bought. I happily go to the new one who has all my records and provides me with the same service. It seems to me thst the goodwill was quite transferrable, and therefore not personal.
