Director's NI in Sage Payroll

Director's NI in Sage Payroll

Didn't find your answer?

I was doing a practise exam question on Sage and was told that the director had elected for the table method of NI. Table F contracted out. I duly entered all the details and completed the question. When I then checked my answers against the samples given, I discovered that my director had had NI deducted as per Table F, but the sample answer shows no deduction for NI. Consequently several other answers done were wrong. Can anyone help please?

Director's NIC
Hello

It may be worth having a look at the Director's NIC tab in the Year to Date Section of the Employee record. This should show the date the directorship began. This defaults to the processing date which may not be the correct date.

Payroll defaults to standard NI for directors
Sage payroll defaults to standard annual NI for directors, and does not deduct any NI until earnings for year to date are above the earnings limit, then deducts NI on all earnings in future months.

Perhaps this default has not been changed?
