Dividends and Sage

Dividends and Sage

Didn't find your answer?

I want to create appropriate codes within Sage Line 50 to show proposed dividends, interim dividends and final dividends paid, which, by their nature cannot be shown above the net profit/loss line in the P&L to avoid impact on the profits

Limitations
I am afraid Sage Line 50 isn't designed to operate and report as if it were a statutory accounts package.

You could show dividends in overheads, although it would be technically incorrect. However, if you are going to show dividends in this way you must surely also have a provision for corporation tax, too. Then at least your 'net profit' has some meaning and equates to retained profits for the period.

Alternatively, you could post your dividends (and CT) to the capital area of your chart of accounts. That way your balance sheet is still OK, and your Sage profit is still your net profit before tax and dividends.
