Do you portray an honest image?

It is very clear that many small one-man bands try to portray that their practice is much bigger than it really is.

To some extent I am guilty myself but it was a real eye-opener when a client told me that -

1.  He suspected my receptionist was really an answering service

2. My office address was just a virtual office

3. I didnt design my own website as it was identical to many others and didnt sound like me anyway

4. My personal newsletters were just bought in as he had the same one from his old accountants so I neednt bother sending them as he ignored them anyway

That said none of that mattered at all as I gave him a super service!

So is honesty the best policy?

Guilty on both counts

Make a virtue of size - or lack of it.
