Doctors' accounts

Doctors' accounts

Didn't find your answer?

Is anyone aware of an up to date reference book relating to the accounting and reporting requirements for GPs?
Failing that is there a standard layout for accounts available?
Dr Who?

You don't need to be a member
I just visited AISMA website and they seem to have a new publication called "Managing Money for General Practitioners" Edited by Mike Gilbert who is the same person who wrote the other book. It's worth checking whether it contains the accounts formats like the previous publication. Just use the link that says "for accountants" and I don't think you need to be a member of AISMA to be able to buy their publications otherwise they will only sell to 72 people because this is how many member they have!!

Doctor's accounts
I am aware of AISMA but contacted them a couple of years ago and as I had only 2 GP practices I was informed this would not qualify me for membership. This is fair enough but where are the (presumably) large number of accountants with a small number of GP clients to get the necessary technical information in one place?
The book I used before the changes in contract was Doctors An Industry Accounting and Auditing Guide published by abg

Try AISMA
I haven't checked lately but AISMA (Association of Independent Specialist Accountants) used to have a book called "The Medical Practitioners Financial Handbook" which contained a recommended format. Try them at www.aisma.org.uk
