Does my accountant have a conflict of interest?

Does my accountant have a conflict of interest?

Didn't find your answer?

 I'm  in a partnership with 2 others.

The accountant preparing our accounts also acts as personal accountant for the 2 other partners. (Incidentally they are also now joint partners in another business venture that was set up without my knowledge despite being a clause in our own partnership agreement. The said accountant also handles this additional business).

There are some issues in our partnership and I would like to know if anyone here feels that by representing them individually there is actually a conflict of interest when it comes do my part in the partnership.

Any advice is appreciated.

Not necessarily
I think if the accountant did represent you and you had issues with the others then there might be a conflict of interest (which might warrant the accountant's resignation as your appointee).
Understandably, you might feel that the current set-up is to your disadvantage. I would suggest that it is important that you have independent representation so that you can ensure that your interests are being catered for and that the contents of the partnership agreement are being followed.
