Dosh vs Moneysoft payroll

Dosh vs Moneysoft payroll

Didn't find your answer?

I have been using DOSH for about 4 years now, they are now going to charge an amount which I think is rather high. I am a small bureau with 3 companies and their charges are £249 + £89 for Tech Support. They have merged with MYOB, and I think that is the reason.

I have been looking at Moneysoft which seems to be quite reasonably priced. Is it an easy product to pick up? I know how to work out payroll longhand so I don't have much use for the Tech support, although I take it out 'just in case' a problem arises with the software.

What about this year end? Do I need the new DOSH software to do the year end, or should I use the HMRC's online filing for this year? and then start on the Moneysoft programme?
Thanks for any ideas

Moneysoft is the best!
i switched from sage to moneysoft last year and cannot recommend a product more highly.

it seems as though whoever wrote/developed this program catered for virtually all situations.

my only worry is that moneysoft will see how good the product is and then hike the price substantially.

Annual update
Most payroll programs follow Revenue practice in having one major annual update, followed up by a budget update. Like the Revenue, the annual program revision deals with closing the old year (P35s, P14/60s, etc.) and starting the new year. Indeed, the design of the P35 and P14/60s have not usually been finalised by the beginning of the year so the program has to be updated before the end of the year. In other words, the license does not run for a complete tax year, but from just before one year-end to just before the next year-end.

As the annual revision includes the ability to run the payroll for the next year, it is not unreasonable for the software supplier to charge another year's fee. If you buy the new year's package around the year-end, you will be able to load all your previous payroll data onto it and produce the P35/14/60s as well as running the payroll for the whole of the new year.

Thanks
I read this post with interest as I have been looking for some reasonably priced payroll software.

I have just downloaded and tested Moneysoft and it really is easy to use and packed with features - simply superb.

SaaS based alternative
You might also consider a Software as a Service based alternative. MyPaye.co.uk provides a comprehensive solution for £1 per employee per month, with somebody else taking on the responsibility of your backup and disaster planning worries.

Moneysoft
We switched from Sage to Moneysoft a few years ago. Best thing we ever did.

Outstanding value for money and very easy to use.

Cannot recommend it highly enough. They are a switched on bunch of people and the helpline has never let us down.

An online alternative
In your situation, you might find an online service more convenient, as you don't need to keep upgrading the software.

The Payroll Site is an HMRC Accredited online payroll service, with a multi-company option that is suitable for a small bureau. A free trial is available.

Money Soft is great
I use Money Soft Payroll Manager.

It is very user friendly and easy to learn. Great value for money. I have not had to phone the help desk very often, but when i have, they have been very helpful.

I highly recommend it.
