We have Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (part of Small Business Edition 2003) on our pc’s in office. An employee on another site has Excel 2002 on his pc.
I initially put the spreadsheet together and used the date formula EDATE which will calculate the date in x months time i.e. animal born 01/01/01, I can use EDATE formula to calculate the date when the animal will be say 12 months old.
I emailed my spreadsheet from Excel 2003 to my colleague – initially his pc read the formula and all was fine. He updated his spreadsheet on a weekly basis and emails me a copy. Recently, his pc has stopped recognising the formula and shows the ##NAME## error. I tried to install the EDATE facility on his pc by installing the ‘Analysis ToolPak’ from ‘Add-Ins’ on the Tools Menu. This was unsuccessful.
I have amended the spreadsheet on my pc, emailed it to my colleague and his pc has decided to recognise the formulae again – I didn’t do anything to it! However, when he comes to copy / paste / amend the spreadsheet, the recognition goes and he is left with ##NAME## again. Why does his pc initially recognise the formula, then decide it doesn’t?

Add In Needed?
I haven't got a copy of Office 2000 to check but I seem to recall having to enable the EDATE function by installing an Add In which I think was the Analysis Tool Pak VBA. Excell 2003 seems to have the function already installed.
