Error Message when attaching PDF Accounts and Tax Comps to Online CT600

Error Message when attaching PDF Accounts and...

Didn't find your answer?

... I'm receiving an error message at the end page when I push the "submit" button:

"X ERROR:You have attached PDF accounts but not selected a reason to show why no iXBRL accounts are attached."

A drop down box offers me the option to select "PDF accounts attached with explanation". But I have no explanation... other than it's only 30th March, and I have five CT600s to file, all with pdf accounts and tax return as attachments. (I've looked up HMRC's staff notes, which instruct staff to check my pdf attachments for my "explanation" as to why I've used pdf and not iXBRL).

Oughtn't the Revenue accept pdf accounts and tax attachments to their online CT600s up until 31st March? Has the online filing service pulled its shutters down early? Would I be better off dropping off paper copies at the nearest HMRC office tomorrow (31st March)?

Given that it's the only option . . .

. . . have you tried selecting it?  It will almost certainly work, particularly before April 1

The same message comes up in our proprietary software.  I just select it and file

There really isn't any need to give any explanation before 1 April because iXBRL isn't compulsory.

Panic Attack Over

Thanks Cloudcounter - it does indeed select, and I've left the reason blank (no option: Using the Revenue's software, I can't get at the white space on the CT600 to write something like "accounts submitted prior to April 2011").

Think I was having a panic attack - normally only happens end of January - and needed a sane voice to tell me all was as it should be.

Thank you for replying so late. You get the cookie for the best answer :)

Now to get on with the other 4 Returns!

Late Edit: Hey AWeb Mods - how come I can select my own answer as the best reply? Are you guys using the same software programmers as the Revenue?
