Estate Agents accounts

Estate Agents accounts

Didn't find your answer?

Will be seeing potential new client later this week - estate agents. Was wondering if there are any special rules or reports or audits that are required for this profession as there are for travel agents, solicitors etc? I have general practising certificate but dispensed with audit when setting out as sole practitioner.

Any pointers gratefully received.

Even if they are not professional;y registered and there is therefore no specific regulations, do be carefull of any Client's Funds a/cs. held for House sale/purchase transactions and Rent Deposits if applicvable

Not maybe a good client to have at the moment - do they still sell houses?

On a serious note dont forget some estate agents arent members of any professional bodies so nothing special required.

I would look for their association with regulatory bodies like RICS and ARLA and procedures on handling clients money if they hold it.
